A dress for all ages

When I was born, my grandpa shopped and shopped for the perfect fancy dress for me.  I wore it for pictures when I was 6 weeks old.

I couldn't help but put Savannah in the same dress and take a few snapshots.  She will be 12 weeks old tomorrow.  She's a fair bit leaner at 12 weeks than I was at 6, wouldn't you say?

To carry on the tradition, my dad also shopped just before Savannah was born for the perfect fancy dress for her.  It's a 6-month size, so we'll get pictures taken in it around Christmas.  I can't wait!  Maybe one day Savannah will have a daughter who can wear her fancy dress just like she got to wear my fancy dress.

Isn't she BEAUTIFUL!?!?!

Daddy's Little Girl

I have a feeling that pouty lip is going to be VERY effective when she gets a little older. What do you think?  Savannah hadn't been feeling well and was just generally grumpy ... as you can see.

When you're sick, there's nothing better than lounging in your pjs and watching TV.  That's exactly what she and Daddy did Saturday morning.

She was completely entertained by Man vs. Wild.  I don't know if it was Bear Grylls' voice or what, but she was locked on the screen for the entire show.

Of course, when you're sick, you also need lots of rest.  Thank goodness Daddy freed up his schedule to help out with that.

Weekend Festivities

This weekend was so great! It started off with my parents arriving Thursday afternoon. There was a lot of time spent with the granddaughter and the granddogs.  Savannah, Bandit, and Marley were all SO happy to see Gamma and Grrdad.

On Friday, I graduated!  Except for the fact that they pronounced my name wrong when I walked across the stage, the ceremony was nice and thankfully didn't last too long.  I am so glad to be finished with my Master's degree so I can focus all of my attention on being a wife to Cory and mother to this little squirt.

After the graduation ceremony, we all went to eat at Saltgrass then mom and I went shopping while the guys went to Lone Star Park to cash in their winning tickets from the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness.  Dad made out like a bandit at one of them.

When mom and I got home, I had a surprise waiting on me!  A new digital camera!!!  It is so stinkin' awesome!  I've already gone crazy taking pictures with it ... and let me just say ... they are WAY better than the pics my old camera took.

Since Friday was so eventful, we spent most of the day Saturday just hanging out around the house.

This is Cory thinking twice about his choice of gift.

I also discovered two of the greatest snacks EVER!  Dr. Pepper made with real sugar and cinnamon sugar kettlecorn.  Neither is conducive to getting back my pre-pregnancy body I might add.

But going back to the subject of the new camera ... in addition to it and two lenses, I got a tripod which made it possible to take this family picture before the Hall of Fame game Sunday night.  Go Cowboys!!

Savannah was very focused on the game.

And cheered when the Boys scored a touchdown!

Two months

Well, two months have come and gone since Savannah joined the Baker household.  She has changed so much since we brought her home.  I have a feeling I'm going to be saying "where does the time go" an awful lot over the next ... oh ... 18 years or so.

Since last month, Savannah has found her smile ... and boy does she show it off!  She's the most smiley during diaper changes and baths which makes me think she might be a prissy little thing who won't want to get dirty when she gets older.  I'm sure her Daddy will have something to say about that though and will do everything he can to make sure she likes playing outside. :o)

She is also consistently sleeping through the night - going down around 11 and sleeping until about 6.  This makes Momma VERY happy!  She's starting to like tummy time a little more and can hold her head up for a good long while and tries really hard to push herself up on her arms.  She likes it when Daddy props her up on the couch like a big kid, too.  It's good head-holding-up practice.

Her hair has gotten WILD!  You can tell in the picture below.  There is nothing I can do to get it to lay down so I usually just spike it all up or comb it into a mohawk.  Here's to hoping it grows out to pigtail length very very soon!

We had to go to the doctor last week because she was showing signs of reflux.  She has a prescription antacid now and it seems to be helping a lot.  She weighed 9 pounds 6 ounces.  Our 2 month well baby check is next week so we'll have more growth stats then.  It'll also be her first round of shots.  :o(

So, there you have it ... my baby girl is growing up.  Here's the little stinker doing what she loves most:

I love the traces of little dimples in her cheeks and the sly look in her eyes.
